CAPE MAY COUNTY TAKES CENTER STAGE AT THE FREEDOM 250 GREAT AMERICAN STATE FAIR

Cape May County is gearing up for an exciting moment in the national spotlight! This summer, our coastal community will proudly participate in the Freedom 250 – Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. – a signature event kicking off America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

When the opportunity arose to represent New Jersey at this historic gathering, Cape May County eagerly stepped forward. With millions of visitors expected to explore the fair between June 25 and July 10, it’s a remarkable chance to share the stories, spirit, and scenic beauty that make our region a beloved destination for travelers from around the world.

At the heart of the celebration will be Cape May County’s custom-designed 25-by-30-foot exhibit. Here, visitors will be invited to discover the county’s vital contributions to America’s fight for independence, as well as its modern-day appeal – from sun soaked beaches and charming downtowns to vibrant arts, culture, nature, and culinary experiences. The hope is that as visitors journey through the region’s Revolutionary era history, they’ll be inspired to extend their travels and plan a future getaway to experience Cape May County firsthand.

Commissioner Director Leonard Desiderio shared the county’s enthusiasm, noting the deep pride in honoring local heroes who helped secure America’s independence. He emphasized how meaningful it is for Cape May County to join states from across the nation in celebrating this once in a generation milestone – both at home and in the nation’s capital.

Whether you’re a longtime local or a fan of Cape May County from afar, this is the perfect moment to join in the celebration. If your summer travels take you to Washington, D.C., be sure to stop by the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair and visit the Cape May County exhibit. It’s a wonderful way to honor America’s past – and get inspired for your next seaside escape.
