The City of Cape May
With a permanent population of 3,800 residents, Cape May plays host to 45,000 vacationers during the summer weekends without compromising its tranquil, slow-paced, and relaxing atmosphere. In addition, based upon seasonally warm weather in the spring and fall, the City has evolved into a town for all seasons with a presentation of a comprehensive selection of themed festivals and diversified events reflecting the embracing of the arts, culture, and history into our fabric.
The City of Cape May is recognized as “the Nation’s Oldest Seashore Resort” with over two miles of white sandy beaches. The City received designation as a National Historic Landmark district by the U. S. Department of the Interior in 1976. With over 600 Victorian Era structures in continuing operation, Cape May is a premier tourist destination presenting a wide array of cultural, historical, arts, environmental, educational and recreational programs and activities on a year round basis.
