Celebration of Heroes Festival! May 25 to May 27. The Wildwoods salute America's military service men, women and families with a fun-filled family weekend of free and ticketed live concerts, celebrity entertainment, sports events and activities, an outdoor food and music festival, fireworks, interactive experiences and Military Parade/Recognition Ceremony! 609-729-9000. Wildwoods International Kite Festival! On the Beach and inside the Wildwoods Convention Center. America’s largest kite festival, featuring world-renowned kite builders and competitors, kite making workshops and exhibits, indoor competition and children’s activities. Glasstown Arts District Third Fridays Every 3rd Friday galleries, the shops & restaurants are open till 9pm or later. New exhibitions, live music, unique shopping and great food! Experience a southern New Jersey town steeped in the history of American glass making while strolling through its downtown Arts District. Excellent selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs for breakfast, lunch and dinner! From May through October there are Maurice River Cruises on Friday and Saturday that will explore the habitat of Bald Eagles, Osprey and more! Visit their website for more info

Nj Audubon World Series of Birding May 12. Varied locations throughout New Jersey. Teams of birders seek to tally as many species of birds by sight or sound in a 24-hour period just in New Jersey. Their objective is to raise money for their favorite environmental cause, and to focus attention upon the habitat needs of migratory birds. Registration required. 609-884-2736. Visit their website

Cape May County Zoo Have a wild time as you explore nearly 80 acres of beautifully maintained exhibits. With almost 200 different species of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles totaling nearly 550 animals, you're sure to see something new. Open every day of the year except Christmas day (weather permitting). Hours are 10:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (closing at 4:45 p.m. during summer hours). There is no admission fee. The zoo is Free!
